With regards to the recent obstructions from appearing in variety shows, JYJ member and actor Park Yoochun(25) has expressed that he “doesn’t dwell on the subject for long.”
On 17 May, at the Seoul Banyan Tree Hotel, Park Yoochun attended the press conference for the new MBC Monday-Tuesday drama “Miss Ripley.” (Screenplay: Kim Sun Young, Director: Choi Yee Seob)
“Miss Ripley” is a story about a woman who is tired of her miserable life, and grasps an opportunity to live as a new person, and the destruction that follows.
In the drama, Park Yoochun plays a youth who chases his dreams freely based on his own values, Song Yoo Hyun (Yutaka.) He is the heir to a resorts empire, and falls in love with Jang Miri (played by Lee Da Hae,) who gets close to him for the sake of her own success.
After the success of his first project “Sungkyunkwan Scandal,” and “Miss Ripley” being Park Yoochun’s second challenge as an actor meant that the pressure he faces, as well as his determination has doubled. Therefore, more effort had to be put in for both his acting skills as well as promotions. However, unlike other stars, Park Yoochun has been unable to appear on the local broadcast stations’ variety programs as part of the publicity promotions.
As JYJ has been unable to appear on any variety shows at all, despite being the main star of “Miss Ripley,” (Park Yoochun) is still unable to appear on any variety programs. Perhaps it was due to tight scheduling issues, but there is also the belief that this (lack of appearance) is due to JYJ.
To this, Park Yoochun said, “I too, want to appear on variety programs,” and “Although I’ve been often cut (from appearing on variety programs), I don’t dwell on it for long” showing a calm attitude.
Compared to the lack of variety appearance, he felt that the overlapping of activities for the JYJ world tour was a more regrettable issue. Park Yoochun said, “Last year, the concert schedules and “Sungkyunkwan Scandal” overlapped as well, and honestly, I was hoping that it wouldn’t happen again this year.” And “not being able to concentrate on only one project is regrettable,” expressing his honest feelings.
Park Yoochun, who is faced with a filming schedule that allows for less than an hour of sleep a day, said “Compared to myself, I’m more concerned about those who have been tired out because of me, and I feel really sorry,” as he expressed his thanks and apologies to his fellow actors.
“Miss Ripley,” features a stellar cast including Park Yoochun, Kim Seung Woo, Kang Hye Jung and Lee Da Hae, and has garnered a lot of attention, It is a story centered around a woman who is blinded by greed and falls in love with two men, a story of love and destruction. The show starts airing on 30 May, after “The Duo.”
